Simon Telen

I am a postdoc researcher at Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences at Leipzig, Germany. I finished my PhD in the NUMA section at the Department of Computer Science of KU Leuven (Belgium) in September 2020. I consider mathematics as both my job and one of my hobbies. I think it's fascinating how beautiful, abstract mathematics can have important applications. I would describe my mathematical interests as `quite theoretical' for an engineer, and `quite applied' for a mathematician. My most important other hobbies are music, sports and traveling. I frequently go to festivals and concerts, but I also sing and play the keys. Editors, Oscar and The Wolf, Drake, Arsenal, Arctic Monkeys are a few of the bands I like. I'm into running, hiking, winter sports and indoor cycling. I'm the proud owner of a beautiful dog called Mauro, you can find his picture below.
